Technical Training - Discover a place you can grow

Many small HVAC contractors are in survival mode and don't have the resources or the time to offer solid training. Bigger companies focus on simple offerings to maximize profits and focus their classes on sales training. In either environment, a new apprentice can struggle for years to become a journeyman. Good service techs find themselves stuck at mid-level for years with no clear path to advance to mastery.

At Watkins, we're constantly training. In addition to hosting factory instructors and a large online learning system (LMS), we have many professionals on staff who are experts in various areas of our trade. Through our structured classes, they share their real-world experience to help you advance in your HVAC career.

Refine your skills on working systems in both our Dayton and Mason locations. You'll have the opportunity to work hands-on with both the latest inverter technology as well as the 20 year old relic. Our offerings included the latest from Trane, Waterfurnace geothermal, zoning, oil heat, hydronics, light commercial, and much more! Trade school only teaches the basics. Where else will you have an opportunity to master your craft?

Your team leader will meet with you regularly to track your growth and insure that you have a goal and a path to get there. In this learning environment, apprentices advance to journeyman 3-5 years ahead of their peers, and mediocre service techs quickly become masters. Our vision is to be the best place to work for the best technicians in town.

Leadership Development and Mentoring

In this year-long program, a cadre of current and future leaders journey through five leadership books together with our CEO. These core books cover foundational leadership topics from healthy team dynamics and servant leadership to emotional intelligence and self-awareness. As our graduates practice their new leadership skills, they improve the lives of everyone around them and create a healthy culture. Everyone wins when a leader gets better!
