This system features a Spine Fin™ coil, a swept fan blade, and a multi-stage, inverter-driven Climatuff™ compressor, all protected by the durable WeatherGuard™ Top.
This system’s multi-stage operation offers flexible comfort, ensuring your home remains comfortable year-round. The system chooses from up to 6 stages based on outdoor temperature and demand signals from the thermostat. Upside for you is that the Trane XL17i runs smooth and quiet while extracting more humidity by extending run times. An over-sized Spine Fin™ condenser coil gives it the ability to cool every room to the right temperature efficiently. Trane’s proprietary demand defrost calls for a heat pump defrost cycle only when needed, greatly boosting heating efficiency beyond what is indicated by its HSPF2 rating. The XL17i is designed to withstand various climate conditions, making it a dependable choice for any homeowner seeking performance and durability.
With the refrigerant change from R-410a to R-454b, Trane also upgraded the XL17i heat pump with an inverter-driven compressor. This improves the SEER2 rate by a full point, and more than doubles the staging capability.
