About Us (Our History)
1979 - "Grandpa" David Watkins starts a commercial/industrial refrigeration company and enlists his two already-apprenticed sons, Randy and Marty, to help it grow.
1988 - Randy Watkins starts a mechanical project management business.
1992 - Randy founds Watkins Mechanical after years of HVAC and construction experience. With a few friends, a service van, and family support, Watkins Mechanical brings comfort to Ohio's Miami Valley.
1995 - Randy hires his brother Marty to be a full-time service technician.
We don't have a parent company – just a company from our parents.
1997 - Watkins joins the Better Business Bureau
1999 - After extensive factory training and great customer reviews, Watkins Mechanical becomes a Trane Comfort Specialist
2002- Watkins moves to new location at the corner of Parker Drive and Main Street.
2002 - All Watkins technicians earn NATE certification.
2004 - Jumpstart Java opens a specialty coffee shop within the Watkins showroom. They are voted "Best cup of coffee in the Miami Valley" by readers of the Springboro Star Press.
2008 - Watkins Mechanical, Inc. is renamed Watkins Heating & Cooling to reflect a focus on residential comfort services.
2010 - Watkins Heating & Cooling revises their website and creates free Air Filter Reminders so customers never forget a filter change.
Watkins Heating & Cooling has been a Better Business Bureau accredited business since 1997.
