I had them do a complete system rebuild. They were the cheapest by far. Springboro Customer Story: New Heat Pump System & Humidifier
The PROBLEM: Here's one of our recent HVAC jobs that a customer raved about in the Springboro, OH area. This homeowner called us after experiencing serious issues with their old existing electric furnace / air handler. Their three-story home wasn't getting warm in the winter and there were cold spots on the second and third floors. The customer also reported an unpleasant smell coming from their vents that was bothering their family. Finally, they let us know that they were having humidity issues – dry air in the winter and sticky air in the summer. They had an old rotary humidifier, but it wasn’t working well and was gathering nasty bacteria.
The PROCESS:
One of our comfort consultants at Watkins Heating & Cooling came out to this customer's home and completed a free consultation to understand exactly what was happening. We discovered that their system was essentially non-operational and that the system was nearly 20 years old. We sat down with the homeowner to go over their options and concluded together that the timing wasn't right for them to do anything at that point.
Months later in the spring, the homeowner called us back when the smell from the furance and the lack of heat and AC were no longer bearable. After reconnecting, we had a Watkins Heating & Cooling specialist put together a full evaluation of this customer's house for free and had thorough conversation with the family about all of their repair and replacement options. Our team recommended installation of a new system to address all of the home's broader comfort challenges, noting that expensive repairs on a very old HVAC system make very little sense. The customer was thrilled with how extensively we answered all of their questions and how well we explained the pros and cons of their possible choices. They decided to replace their old HVAC system for a new one and our team of installation experts went to work!
The SOLUTION:
Here was the hand-tailored solution this customer chose: replacement of their outdated Westinghouse furnace and air conditioner with a new Trane TAM9 air handler and a top-notch Trane XV20i heat pump, as well as a Trane 850 Smart thermostat with an indoor wireless sensor. We gave them options for base models as well, but like many people, they wanted the best of the best in performance and energy efficiency and they'd heard amazing things about the Trane XV 20's WeatherGuard™ Top Accessory for protecting the unit from the weather.
Our Watkins HVAC techs also replaced this customer's mold-prone standalone humidifier with an AprilAire 600A whole-house humidifier. Finally, since aesthetics were highly important to this family, we went the extra mile a and relocated their outdoor unit from the backyard, where it was an eyesore, to the side of the house, and moved the line set which stretched across the yard. The customer told us during installation that they were, "beyond impressed at how well our HVAC installers worked together."
The RESULT:
As we do for all of our customers, our Watkins Heating & Cooling team conducted a follow-up inspection two weeks after installation to confirm the system's optimal performance and the homeowner's satisfaction. During this check-in, the customer praised the Watkins team's quality of work, communication and responsiveness to the customer questions throughout. The homeowner was overjoyed that in place of the old hot and cold spots, they now had one consistent comfortable temperature throughout their three-story home and the unpleasant smell from before was gone.
