Product Information

Looking for the same comfort level of a Trane XV20i, but on a budget? The functional components of the Trane XV18 variable speed heat pump are identical to the XV20i. In order to offer a similar heat pump at a lower price point, Trane removed the Weatherguard top and reduced the total coil surface area (lowering efficiency to 18 SEER2).

The XV18 still qualifies for the “Cold-Climate Heat Pump” tax credit, meaning that it can maintain high heat output even in northern climates such as Dayton, Ohio. Powered by an inverter-driven compressor, its variable capacity in tiny increments to perfectly match capacity to the current heating and cooling needs of your home. Longer runtime at a lower speed reduces wear and tear from starting and stopping. This enables the XV18 heat pump to deliver incredible humidity removal, super quiet operation, and unmatched comfort in both summer and winter.

The estimated cost you see above is the average installed cost of the XV18 heat pump unit alone, without air handler or furnace. The advanced technology in the XV18 only works with tight cooperation between the air handler, heat pump, and thermostat. Therefore, the XV18 requires installation with matching indoor equipment, either a compatible Trane communicating air handler or gas furnace with evaporator coil. Our recommendation is either the Trane TAMX Hyperion Air Handler or the Trane XC95m gas furnace.

It’s very difficult to find exact pricing online because it’s very difficult to estimate without seeing your house. Every home and installation comes with its own challenges. Our goal is to educate homeowners, equipping them to make the best decision for their home and budget. If your home needs a smaller 2 ton unit, and your current ductwork was engineered and installed correctly, you can expect an installed cost on the low end of this range. Obviously, a large 5 ton heat pump and/or difficult installation will put you at the higher end of the range.

We would love to help you with the next step in your project. During a free in-home estimate, our comfort advisors measure your home and ductwork and inspect insulation and windows. This gives them the ability to perform a detailed heat load calculation so we get the size right. They may also have solutions to correct hot and cold spots and provide optimum airflow to your new heat pump system. We promise honest advice with no sales pressure!
